A Visit to the River
A Visit to the River
Intaglio - Dry Point
4.5" x 6"

The drypoint series A Visit to the River consists of four transformation states: trout, ruddy duck, black-crowned night-heron, and loon. My intent in developing the series was to illustrate the importance of rivers for wildlife habitat. Rivers create important wetlands and marshes that offer nesting and feeding areas for wildlife, including many bird species. Our rivers are under constant threat from the creation of dams, deforestation, pollution, agricultural run-off, and climate change. In the past, It was not unusual to see many hundreds of birds on a visit to the river. Unfortunately, due to human activity, our rivers are being transformed into waterways that don’t support a diversity of species.
